AMARA is a new charity
whose name is derived
from the Mongolian
word that means ‘to
comfort'. AMARA connotes
a safe emotional journey ‘home'
for children who have
suffered some of the
most terrible ordeals
and traumas in their
lives.
The children we help
often live in orphanages
and centres all around
the world having experienced
ordeals such as abandonment,
loss of parents, sexual
abuse, physical abuse,
neglect, prostitution
or having lived on
the streets.
There are worthy organisations
working very hard to
meet the primary needs
of the children by
providing food, clothes
and shelter. Only when
these primary needs
are being met can AMARA begin to approach their
emotional well-being.
AMARA's work is unrivalled
because we work to
meet the level of needs
not addressed by others.
What we do is offer
emotional & psychological
support and guidance
to these children by
teaching local staff
to walk with them,
hand in hand, through
a therapeutic journey
using safe and established
methods. The journey
offers them freedom
from their past pains
and it enables them
to heal and to regain
balance. They can then
continue to grow to
reach their highest
potential.
Our aim is to grant
them the opportunity
to reintegrate back
into their communities
as strong, secure,
confident, happy & hopeful
individuals.
We are a small organisation
and all of our staff
are volunteers. We
rely entirely on your
support to reach these
children.
